Aboriginal Music Week is a music festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We present Native, Métis, Inuit, and Indigenous artists who perform hip hop, electronic, traditional, world, folk, rock, country, and blues music.
The festival is produced by the Aboriginal Music Manitoba Inc. (AMM) and supported by the Province of Manitoba, the Manitoba Arts Council, the Winnipeg Arts Council, the SOCAN Foundation, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage.
AMM is governed by an nine person Board of Directors, which includes Alan Greyeyes, Brett Huson, Jacques St. Goddard, Sandra Seidel, Jennifer Duka, Francine Compton, Kyra Wilson, Michael Hutchinson, and Jarita Greyeyes.
AMM has completed a number of other music projects in the past couple of years, including “Take the Fort!,” a western Canada tour of Manitoba Métis music and dance for the 2009 Cultural Olympiad and the Aboriginal Nominee Honouring Ceremony at the 2009 Western Canadian Music Awards in Brandon, Manitoba.
