Three-piece experimental folk group, Alanadale, has gained attention in the Winnipeg music scene for its enchanting original sound and imaginative covers. Drawing influence from the likes of Chad VanGaalen, Arcade Fire, The Acorn, and Gentle Giant, Alanadale's classically trained guitarists allow the classical guitar to interact with the raw electric guitar, creating a progressive sound that pours forth creativity and abounds with musical maturity. In their originals, George Dyck's guitar licks dance around innovative melodies sung by Thomas Krause. Filling out this sound with hooks and beats that are often eccentric and always enjoyable is Dale Thiessen on keys and synthesizers. In 2010, Alanadale took to the stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival's Young Performers program under the mentorship of Greg MacPherson and since then have played shows at such venues as the iconic Royal Albert Arms, and the Park Theatre. Alanadale has also shared bills with acts ranging from Del Barber to Royal Canoe. Recently, Alanadale has been collaborating with a local visual artist Seth Woodyard preparing a piece for his installation "Good Work" that has been scheduled for exhibition in mid 2012. The piece is a narrative that extends the myth of Sisyphus into new territory, culminating in a chorus of retributive slaves protesting Zesus' dominion.
