Praised by the Winnipeg Free Press for her “heart-stopping” solo performance in Abbie Betinis’ From Behind the Caravan (2009), soprano Ashley Klassen has emerged as a talented and versatile performer.

Her artistry and love for contemporary music and operatic repertoire was most recently on display in the Contemporary Opera Lab’s production of Baby Kintyre by Dean Burry and in the University of Manitoba’s Opera School Tour performance of Canadian children’s opera Angela and Her Sisters by Dean Burry. In the spring of 2011 Ashley was featured in the WSO’s Adventures in Music outreach concerts singing Peter Hannan’s Trinkets of Little Value: Theguehoaca under the direction of Richard Lee. This past Christmas season Klassen was the featured soprano soloist with the WSO in their Holiday Concert Tour singing Mozart’s Exultate jubilate and Alleluia, as well as other Christmas standards.
