From muddy waters to the big smoke… Manitoba Music is returning to Toronto for a showcase of new music from the prairie province. On November 18, The Supermarket will have them in the aisles for pop/rock outfit Mise en Scene, powerhouse roots duo The Small Glories, and Americana-tinged songsmith Slow Leaves.

MISE EN SCENE
Substance. Sincerity. Swagger. Reverb. All are abundant with Mise en Scene. These Manitobans’ music is both clamorous and captivating, with hints of everything from ‘60s pop and alt-country to early punk and garage rock. From guitarist/vocalist Stefanie Blondal Johnson’s powerful leads and subtle harmonies through to drummer Jodi Dunlop’s manic vigor, Mise en Scene don’t pull any punches. 

SLOW LEAVES
Slow Leaves has garnered a reputation as much for his honest lyrics and stirring voice as his intimate stage performances and confessional storytelling. His country-tinged folk music is deeply rooted in the genuine and honest, rich in melody and sung from the heart of downtown. His release Beauty Is So Common, is a collaboration with award-winning producer/musician Rusty Matyas (Imaginary Cities, Federal Lights). 

THE SMALL GLORIES
The Small Glories are a new musical union of folk/roots artists Cara Luft and JD Edwards. What started as a casual friendship has turned into something quite unexpected and extremely magical. Their abilities as both strong lead and harmony singers, their shared history of growing up singing in musical families, combined with their songwriting prowess and musical chops all contribute to the uniqueness of this partnership.
