About

"Think Brazil, think in music!

Winnipeg, the multi-cultural capital of Canada is very lucky to have such an amazing artist like Marco Castillo to represent the vast and complex culture of Brazil.

Born in the Capital of Samba, Rio de Janeiro, he was raised in a musical family and that’s evident in his musical knowledge. Marco has graduated B.A. of Music in Brazil, and has an immense experience in all music styles.

Multi-instrument player, song writer Marco Castillo arrived in Canada in 2006 and quickly became one of the city’s busiest musicians, bringing his blend of Brazilian jazz, and funk music to club and concert hall audiences. Castillo, with his unique style has influenced many artists around the city and this has contributed immensely to spread Brazilian music and culture.

Successful performances as an experienced band leader with his “Brazilian Beats” group in the International Winnipeg Jazz Festival consolidated Marco as a Brazilian cultural reference in Winnipeg.

His first CD “Brazilian Season” scored first place in many radio-charts across Canada for several weeks.

In small ensembles or the full 8 piece band “Brazilian Beats”, Marco always brings uplifting contagious Latin grooves that makes it impossible for the crowd not to dance."

"Trip to Brazil" won the World recording of the year at WCMA Western Music Canadian Award in Regina 2012.

Castillo newest ten track release "Zabelê" is a piece of art composed of solely original songs with the best Brazilian flavours: Samba, Forró and Funk. Consisting of two instrumental songs and eight lyrical masterpieces, "Zabelê" delivers a variety of systemized and deluxe textures and rhythms that will surely bring all listeners the unique Brazilian experience.
