About

Improvised music by random 'bands' made up of local musicians... based on audience suggestions.

Tickets online or at the door.

Here's a list of SOME of the perfomers who will be participating this time! MANY more to be added in the next few weeks, so watch this page for more. Bios usually just grabbed from Facebook pages/websites/etc.)

- Darin and Brett of Black Cloud (bass, guitar)
Filled with depth and emotion, Black Cloud of Winnipeg creates rich instrumental post-rock pieces. They are explosive and dramatic and pull at your heart with a rousing sense of transcendence and desire. Breathtaking and atmospheric, the guitars and synth roam and soar, dripping with reverb. This five-piece band creates beautiful soundscapes that build and fall with a sound somewhere between This Will Destroy You and Explosions In the Sky mixed with first wave shoegaze and a taste of punk ferocity that pierces through the unified sound sparingly

- Ashley Bieniarz (keyboard)
Ashley Bieniarz is a Canadian pianist, composer and songwriter. She is currently studying at the University of Manitoba in the Desautels Faculty of Music for Music Education as a classical piano major. Born in Iqaluit, Nunavut and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ashley’s entire life has been heavily influenced by her musical training. Music has always been her passion and a major part of her young life. Privately trained in her piano technique and repertoire for over 18 years Ashley has developed strong skills and creative talents.

- Casimir Gruwel (sax)
Casimir Gruwel may be releasing his debut solo material, but he's a familiar face -- and voice -- on the Canadian music scene. The 24-year-old multi-instrumentalist racked up Juno and Western Canadian Music Award nominations for his work with Winnipeg rock/jazz/funk collective Burnt Project 1, and continues to perform as a backup singer and saxophonist for some of the city's leading acts. With a solo album slated for 2016, Gruwel is giving listeners a taste of his new sound with the haunting single "Rocks," a soul-inflected folk/roots barnburner that hints at the breadth of the artist's range of influences. Combining inspiration from classic Motown catalogue with more challenging contemporary groups like the Mars Volta or Dillinger Escape Plan, Gruwel's unorthodox take on the roots genre has to be experienced to be believed.

- Daniel Guezen a/k/a Bartley Knives (guitar)
Bartley Knives plays guitar and sings smart songs with a stupid look on his face, and occasionally a floppy hat on his head. Inspired by the guitar stylings of M. Ward and Shotgun Jimmie, he is an entertainer foremost, a guitarist second and a singer when something needs to be said. A song-writing member of bands like Sibyl and formerly one half of The New Wild, Bartley Knives is a new solo project dabbling in a variety of genres and volumes. He is in no way affiliated with the Winnipeg Free Press - but as the saying goes, any press is good press.

- Kumaran Reddy of Cilly Cyb Fung High/LSD25 Records (bass)
CAUTION HIGH OUTPUT PSYCHEDELIC

- Kaeleigh and Paul of futurekids (keys/glockenspiel, guitar)
From the centre of Canada, futurekids deliver upbeat yet melancholy rockers infused with blips of pop culture references. The band’s debut EP, 2014’s Say Goodnight to the Machines, reached #38 on the Canadian national chart and was mastered by Juno-winner Jamie Sitar (Destroyer, You Say Party). Recorded in an Ontario cabin and again mastered by Sitar, the group’s debut LP, This is Everything, is available now. Everything‘s 13 songs (co-written by each band member) jump from indie rock to pop, fuzzed-out rock to americana, shoegaze, and everything in between. With its peak position at #14 on the Canadian national chart and lead single “White Girl in a Wu-Tang Shirt” being named Diamond Deposits’ top track of 2015, This is Everything is one that a few people across the world are enjoying, so hey, maybe you will too.

- Tim Haverluck of THE TIMS (guitar)
The Tims are a power rocknroll trio with flavours of blues and hip hop.

- Peter Vander Hout of Tin Can Bandits (baritone sax)
The name Tin Can Bandits means different things to different people. Some think of it as an acoustic act, to others its a garage rock band, and to many still it means nothing. Like all organisms striving for perfection, the Bandits are in a constant state of evolution. Tin Can Bandits are a six-piece pop original pop rock band playing energetic tunes to get your body moving.

- KittyKittie (Pigspit) (vocals)
KittyKittie is a one of a kind storyteller and poet based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She seamlessly blends video, performance, poetry, sound and music into her work. Through these practises and the imagery she evokes with her words, she invites her audience to connect with her in a warm, and personal environment. Kitty’s creative approach was born out of her fight with cancer that robbed her of half her larynx and thyroid gland. She was told she would never sing or have the capacity to project her voice ever again. Her stubborn personality helped her to fight her way through her disability and find creative methods to tell her stories. She has learned to be very diverse and adaptable with in her writing and performances both live and on film. Most of her work has a sassy sense of humour that is deeply rooted in social, environmental justice and human rights.

J Riley Hill (drums)
J Riley Hill is a drummer of Mulligrub and recorder of bands. He enjoys extravagant breakfast, long walks on the beach and cute animals.

....and many more to come!
