Spring has sprung in West Central and we’re gearing up for the 18th Annual Ellice Street Festival! Come out and celebrate our community on June 9th and 10th with the West End Cultural Centre and friends!

We’ll be gearing up for the event on Friday, June 9th with a free concert inside the West End Cultural Centre’s Ventura Hall at 8:00PM. Come see our building and two step the night away under the guidance of Justin Lacroix  to the music of Quinton Blair!

On Saturday, June 10th, we’ll be enjoying the weather and each other’s company outside all afternoon from 12:00PM to 4:00PM on Ellice Avenue between Sherbrook and Langside Streets. We are thrilled to announce our outdoor music lineup of The Rainbow Minotaurs of Jeff (students from our Tune In program), Sand Skyscraper (music and storytelling for children of all ages), Kakagi (up and coming folk-rock outfit), SHEENA (funk group led by Sheena Rattai of Red Moon Road), and West Central favourites JD and the Sunshine Band! These local bands will provide a soundtrack for all ages for the afternoon which also includes craft making, face painting, kids play area, wandering performers, an artisans market largely composed of area residents, community tables, a BBQ, and more!

Consider this your invitation to join in the fun and celebration of our community. We’re so looking forward to this unofficial kickoff to summer and the chance to relax outdoors and enjoy our neighbours’ company. Volunteers are always welcome!
