About
From Moscow to Israel to Canada, Ilya Poletaev has been studying piano since the age of six. In 2010, he captured First Prize at the prestigious International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig and, as the winner, appeared in recital at the Leipzig Gewandhaus. He has expertise on a variety of keyboards and repertoire from the 16th -21st centuries. The Philadelphia Inquirerpraised his “unfailingly gorgeous tone” in delivering “an interpretation of considerable individuality.” Mr. Poletaev is on staff at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music.
