Delve into neo-noir glitch with “superhuman” flute virtuoso Mark Takeshi McGregor. GroundSwell’s own Gordon Fitzell has designed an audacious, all-Canadian program bursting with theatrical flair. Its centrepiece is the striking and much-celebrated Tarantino Études for bass flute and audio-video glitch—the most recent addition to the famed “Études” cycle by Manitoban-born Nicole Lizée. The program also features new and recent works by composers Emilie LeBel (ON/USA), Gregory Lee Newsome (ON) and Michael Oesterle (QC), completing a program of commissions written expressly for McGregor.
