October 3rd, 2017, Winnipeg, MB – What was initially intended as a birthday celebration for what was going to be Tom Petty's 67th birthday this coming Friday, October 20th, is undergoing a slight change of plans.

"It's a tricky situation." says frontman Johannes Lodewyks, who's best known for his work with SubCity and The Noble Thiefs.  "We've had this birthday gig booked for months.  Now, with this news...you never want to come off as opportunistic in regards to the death of a beloved icon. He deserves the best."

Winnipeg's blue collar work ethic and homegrown musical talent have always been so closely tied to Petty's lyrics that a walk down Portage Ave. could easily be the backdrop for a number of his classics.  That being said, his inclusive style of folk-bent rock'n'roll has reached the far ends of the globe, tying together generations previously torn apart by the differences in the worlds they grew up in.

While the city hasn't seen the likes of Tom Petty since 2014, Lodewyks assures us that his cast of local players will do the fans and the songs justice.

"We had such an overwhelming response last time we performed this tribute…[…]…we knew way back in the spring that a birthday celebration was in order.  It's certainly a change of pace with all these emotions circling around now.  We've consulted friends, fans, musicians and promoters and it seems people still want to hear those songs.  Perhaps now more than ever.  The show will go on!" adds Lodewyks.

The Times Change(d) and the band strongly encourage fans to hit up ticket outlets and www.ticketfly.com in advance. The last time the tribute act performed, they sold out a 300+ venue. There are two shows the night of the celebration: An early one at 8:00pm and one for the party people at 11:30pm.
