About

Canadian singer-songwriter and dancer Carlo Capobianco found himself in the throes of obsession as he embarked on the creation of "Pray To You," his debut EP. Initially conceived as a heartfelt tribute to his lovelorn partner, the project organically evolved into a soul-stirring conversation between Carlo and the divine. Collaborating with producer Adam Fuhr of Yes We Mystic and the creative force behind House of Wonders, Carlo set out to craft a timeless album that would encapsulate the essence of the eighties, the allure of stardom, and his deep dedication to his beloved. The writing process commenced in 2019, coincidentally close to the onset of the pandemic, and the album seamlessly unfolded, revealing itself for recording. "It felt like a natural progression, as if these songs were meant to be written together," reflects Capobianco.

The narrative of "Pray To You" commences on a sweet note with "Call You Sometime." This whimsical descent into a cotton candy-scented madness sees Carlo questioning his elusive lover, awaiting a call that never comes. Set against a backdrop of sweeping synths, harmonies, and a captivating bassline, the track captures the essence of infatuation, not yet fully blossomed into love.

The title track, "Pray To You," delves deeper into the rabbit hole of obsession. Carlo's profound infatuation leads him to the point of prayer, yet his beloved remains unresponsive. The blend of deep vocals with a synthetic, Depeche Mode-inspired instrumental creates a memorable, earworm chorus that reverberates throughout the album's narrative. Other tracks traverse the spectrum of emotions, from the haunting regrets of "Dance With The Devil" to the stark realization of a toxic relationship in "Sleeping With The Enemy," an 80s-inspired ballad showcasing Carlo's versatile vocal range.

Released on April 20th, 2023, "Pray To You" received critical acclaim from the vibrant Winnipeg music scene. Carlo Capobianco's name graced the front page of the Winnipeg Free Press, and his music garnered attention in Stylus Magazine and Bad Gardening Advice. Spreading rapidly through word of mouth and a surge in community support, Carlo envisions a global reach for his musical endeavours, marking just the beginning of his melodic journey.
