Cottonmouth is a five-piece original band hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, that blends country and rock in the tradition of The Band, Allman Brothers, Johnny Cash, Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons and all three Hanks. Their authentic, gritty songs evoke a simpler time when rock was more real, and more fun.
Cottonmouth's soaring harmonies and hook-driven melodies blend to form soulful, feel-good songs that take you from dirt roads to life in the fast lane; from love lost to lessons learned at the school of hard knocks.
Cottonmouth is quickly developing a loyal following on the Winnipeg pub circuit, and for good reason: the band aims to entertain. Their infectious mix of country, blues and southern rock casts a wide net and their easy-going camaraderie on and off stage makes everyone in the room feel like they’re “with the band.”
Cottonmouth delivers songs with passion whether they’re tear-in-your-beer ballads or balls-out rockers. Ryan Cyr and Don Norman switch off on lead/backing vocal duties, allowing for catchy, soul-lifting harmonies. The electric guitar stylings of Leo K accompanied by Don's rhythm, weaves a welcome-mat of southern-fried hospitality; and the rock solid rhythm section of Grant Milliner (bass) and Ryan keep the pub-goers dancing until last call.
In 2012, Cottonmouth continues to play bars and pubs, along with a number of rural festivals this summer. They also continue to write songs in preparation for the recording of their debut CD.
