Royal Canoe
"Hold On To the Metal"

From the album Extended Play

Featured track, available from February 16 to February 23

At last count, Royal Canoe had about 73 keyboards on stage during its live show. Okay, that's maybe a slight exaggeration, but the experimental pop six-piece is known for its keys (and maybe also its two drummers). With Extended Play, the band's long-awaited follow-up to its critically-acclaimed 2010 debut CO-OP Mode, Royal Canoe launches four new songs and a big tour that will take the boys across Canada and into the states. The band also landed coveted showcase spots at SXSW in Texas and Canadian Music Week in Toronto this March. Right now, fans can vote for Royal Canoe (and Imaginary Cities) to play Sonicbid's official SXSW party. But before Royal Canoe leaves town, local audiences can join in the EP release party fun at the West End Cultural Centre on February 17. To get you started, we have "Hold On To the Metal" as this week's featured free song. Download it for free, read about the in Manitoba Scene and The Uniter, and catch the band -- and all its keyboards -- live.
