Daniel ROA
"Love Your Machine"

From the album Hyperbole

Featured track, available from February 14 to February 22

The snow is sculpted and the beards are grown! Festival du Voyageur kicks off its 10-day run on February 15. The 44-year-old winter institution is a busy music festival, offering visitors a celebration of Franco-Manitoban culture with music taking centre stage. This year's festivities boast 115 diverse musical acts, many of which call Manitoba home. One such act is Franco-pop sensation Daniel ROA. The singer/songwriter, who picked up a Western Canadian Music Awards for his sophomore album Hyperbole in September, has not one but two performances at Festival du Voyageur. He'll be at Le Prairie Tent at Voyageur Park with Imaginary Cities, Los Weekend, and more on February 17 and on February 23, ROA will take over Le Garage.

This week we're featuring ROA's song "Love Your Machine", which is -- according to ROA -- "part social commentary about how our obsessive reliance on technology shapes our everyday life and part sardonic portrayal of romance gone wrong". What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day and point out that you can find all the live music listings for Festival du Voyageur in our Live Music Calendar, which works on mobile devices. (Hey, ROA hearts his iPhone.) Enjoy a bit of rap en français courtesy of Mr. ROA and catch him, and many many others, live at Festival du Voyageur. Hé ho!
