There are plenty of Manitoba faces searching for the Texas sunshine as SXSW takes over Austin this week. The annual music mecca welcomes six Manitoba acts including the four playing this year's Manitoba showcase on March 14: Imaginary Cities, Royal Canoe, Boats, and Chic Gamine (Ruth Moody and KEN mode also have official showcases). Team Manitoba has generated some solid buzz this year, including a coveted spot for Chic Gamine on NPR's Austin 100. The Juno-winning soul/pop quintet is fresh from the digital release of its U.S. debut, Closer, which hits Amercian shelves on March 26.
