In this corner, wearing the green trunks, it's... Bands Vs. Filmmakers! The third annual fundraiser for Cinematheque features local independent filmmakers presenting their film and video work live to accompany performances by local bands. This year's lineup is a diverse bunch, including Mahogany Frog, Flying Fox and the Hunter Gatherers, Slattern, The JD Edwards Band, and Mariachi Ghost. Blending traditional Mexican folk music with prog rock, jazz, choral arrangements, and some pretty impressive face paint, Mariachi Ghost gives us this week's featured song: the not-so-seasonally appropriate "Frostbite". In addition to Bands Vs. Filmmakers, you can catch Mariachi Ghost on the Old Market Square stage on the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival's opening weekend festivities on June 14 along with a thwack of other summer shows in Winnipeg and an Indiegogo album fundraising campaign.
