Mahogany Frog
"Expo '67"

From the album SENNA

Featured track, available from October 3 to October 11

The term "genre-defying" might've been invented for Mahogany Frog. With six studio albums in its 15-year history, the synth-heavy instrumental psychedelic jazz-rock outfit has built up a significant cult following, evident in director Stéphane Oystryk's Alors, t’as soif de quoi? The music doc, is currently screening at festivals throughout Canada, follows the band members both onstage and off (see the trailer below). This weekend, Mahogany Frog will hit the showcase stages at BreakOut West in Calgary and wait to hear if its latest recording, SENNA, picks up the Western Canadian Music Award for Instrumental Recording of the Year. Next up, the band will play a few shows in Saskatchewan with the Catamounts (made up of members of Mahogany Frog and the Calculus Affair). Look for a SENNA remix project in 2014, featuring the work of DJs Hunnicutt and Co-op as well as members of The Besnard Lakes, Caribou, and more. Meanwhile, cheer Mahogany Frog on at the WCMAs this weekend and download this week's feature track, "Expo '67". Find out more about BreakOut West and the WCMAs
