For years, The Uniter has been compiling an annual list of five emerging local musical acts to watch, with nods to the likes of Royal Canoe, Del Barber, The Lytics, Cannon Bros., and more. This year, the urban weekly gave music fans the chance to choose via its Uniter Fiver competition. Fans voted newcomers Finn, Greek Riots, Hearing Trees, Pants, and Sibyl as this year's acts to check out. Indie roots outfit Sibyl took the top spot, landing the cover of The Uniter's special music issue, a chance to record with Rusty Matyas, and the headlining spot at the Uniter Fiver Showcase. Speaking of top fives, CBC tapped the January 17 show at the Park Theatre as one of the top five things to do in Winnipeg this weekend. So head to the Park and catch some brand new Manitoba talent because you just find your new favourite band.
