Kakagi
"Spadina Streetcar"

From the album Pronounced: /Ke-Ka-Gi/ EP

Featured track, available from January 19 to January 27

The Uniter, Winnipeg's weekly urban journal, is set to celebrate some of the city's best new bands this month. The fourth annual Uniter Fiver project takes over The Good Will on January 19 to shine a spotlight on five new bands, all picked by the voting public. The music newcomers hitting the stage this year include metal outfit Awaiting the Answers, indie rockers June Killing Stones, folk/rock quartet Kakagi, indie pop duo Rosebud, and alternative act Tusk. We've got Kakagi's track "Spadina Streetcar" off the band's debut EP Pronounced: /Ke-Ka-Gi/ as this week's featured song. Next up for Kakagi... they hit the Cavern with Prairie Lakes on February 10, Times Change(d) on March 31, planning a Western Canadian tour for early May, and writing material for a follow-up EP slated for fall 2017. Pick up this week's issue of The Uniter to read more about the bands or check out the stories online at uniter.ca/issues/view/71-16, and don't miss the Uniter Fiver live. You might just find your new favourite band.
