Fred Penner! That's almost all one needs to say to get ears excited, but there's so much more! The music legend has released a dozen albums, landed 10 JUNO Award nominations and three wins, been honoured with the Order of Canada and and Order of Manitoba, hosted the Polaris Music Prize gala, beamed into the homes and hearts of Canadians with over 900 episodes of his CBC series Fred Penner's Place, and connected with countless music fans across the world. Now he's ready with release of a new album, Hear The Music, and is hitting stages across the country, including a recent stop at Toronto's Canadian Music Week. The new album, which is geared at kids and "Fred Heads" alike, features collaborations with several acclaimed Canadian artists, including Ron Sexsmith, Alex Cuba, Basia Bulat, The Good Lovelies, Terra Lightfoot, Bahamas, and producer Ken Whiteley, not to mention backup vocals from his own family. Winnipeg audiences will get a chance to see their hometown hero at the Centennial Concert Hall on May 7, where he'll bring his magic to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. To celebrate, we've got a brand new tune from Mr. Penner, "La Vida", featuring Alex Cuba and Basia Bulat. Get it, check out the entire album on iTunes or Linus Entertainment, and get yourself out to see Fred Penner live!
