"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"

From the album Live Off The Floor

Featured track, available from November 30 to December 8

It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas! We're kicking off the festive season with the first in a series of holiday tunes by Manitoba artists. JUNO-nominated jazz singer/songwriter Erin Propp with WSO principal cellist Yuri Hooker and pianist/conductor Michelle Mourre have collaborated on a new Christmas EP, Live Off The Floor. The trio has been playing tunes together this season in Regina and Brandon, and is set to release the EP on December 10 at the Winnipeg Conservatory of Music. You can also catch Propp in non-holiday form at Mardi Jazz on December 5 with Julian Bradford and Larry Roy. Propp is preparing for a new full-length album with Roy, a longtime collaborator and partner in the JUNO nomination and a Western Canadian Music Award win in 2014. She's also been collaborating with more Manitoba and New York musicians including Jon Gordon (from New York, teaching at U of M in Winnipeg) on his sold out Leonard Bernstein concert at the Rady Centre earlier in November for Tarbut and is a guest vocalist on Winnipeg born, NYC-based jazz bassist Luke Sellick’s Christmas EP to be released this season as well. To get you in the holiday spirit we've got one of the EP's tracks, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", as this week's featured song. Unwrap it for yourself, stream our all-local holiday playlist, and do not miss Erin, Yuri & Michelle's Live Off The Floor launch.
