Red Road Music II returns to the West End Cultural Centre stage on February 18, featuring performances by
Don Amero, Burnt - Project 1, and Nunavut's Lucie Idlout. Hosted by rapper and CBC personality
Wab Kinew and NCI-FM's Melissa Spence, the special concert will be recorded for later broadcast on CBC.
Amero, who played the first Red Road Music concert in 2007, will be offering a taste of his upcoming third release. The as-yet-untitled album follows up
Deepening, which picked up a
Canadian Folk Music Award and a
Canadian Aboriginal Music Award in 2009. After the show at the WECC, Amero will head to Vancouver to play at the 2010 Winter Olympics before preparing for a cross-Canada tour in May and June. He'll also be a featured guest with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra during its Indiginous Fest in June.
You can hear Amero's new song, "Life's Been Pretty Sweet," from
The Loudspeaker until February 25. Co-written with Arun Chaturvedi and Chris Burke-Gaffney, it's a preview of what you can catch at Red Road Music II on February 18.
