About

About the Organization:

Portage la Prairie Folk Festival Association is a grassroots, non-profit music organization based in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. As our motto states, the members of PFFA are "forever appreciative of our local artists and musicians." We strive to provide opportunities - through the work of our two folk festivals - to support local emerging artists, as well as showcase the talent of these artists in Portage la Prairie and area to promote culture, music, and arts in our community. Our small and intimate, yet nevertheless energetic, folk festivals - Hot Blizzard Folk Festival (February) and Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival (August) - are inclusive and affordable to everybody, offer diverse musical styles in each and every line-up, and focus primarily on featuring the growing, lesser known artists from right here in Portage la Prairie, as well as throughout Manitoba.

About the Festival:

Where: 15 Tupper Street South, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba

When: Saturday, February 4th, 2017 - 1:00 pm (doors open at 12:30)

Hot Blizzard Folk Festival is an annual folk festival that happens in Portage la Prairie, just 45 minutes west of Winnipeg, each February.

Manitoba's premiere winter folk fest was established as a fun winter retreat to rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit and to "melt the winter blues." The small and intimate festival is held in downtown Portage la Prairie at a large, historic church that boasts an inviting ambiance and incredible acoustics.

The event is fun for the whole family and offers great, local music for everyone - stay for the musician workshop and the public jam session at the end of the festival program!! Bring an instrument.

If coming from Winnipeg, ride the Hot Blizzard Hippie Bus to and from the festival! This is a super fun way to meet new people and break out in music en route to Folk Fest!!

Ticket and lineup launch on December 1st!

Performer submissions now closed for the year. If you would like to volunteer, please visit www.portagefolk.com/volunteer for details, or email info@portagefolk.com.
