James Struthers

Indie, Pop

James Struthers may be a 22-year-old heartthrob, with his blue eyes, disarming smile and cool, calm demeanour, but his allure goes far beyond the sight lines. DIY and Pop Music aren't typically phrases you hear used together. Nonetheless Struthers' promotional skills succeeded in doing what no other Winnipeg artist has done; selling out the historic Pyramid Cabaret for his first-ever headlining gig, the CD release party for his debut EP, Nadia. He accomplished the feat by personally spreading signed invitations around malls, bus shacks, libraries - pretty much on any free surface with the promise: present the invite at the show and get free entrance and a free Nadia CD! Since his first release, James has risen to local stardom, selling out multiple shows, touring across Canada three times and released in August, 2011). If he keeps up this pace, it won't be long 'til 'James Struthers joins the ranks of his soundalikes Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Paul Simon. With his gifted songwriting skills, natural knack for the guitar, soulful voice and his intense DIY work ethic, it's no surprise that James caught the attention of a management/production team responsible for the careers of some of the highest profile break-out Winnipeg artists including Inward Eye (RCA), Ash Koley (Nettwerk) & Remy Shand (Universal/Motown). Arun Chaturvedi (producer/co-writer) and Glen Willows (BCM) are gearing up for the inevitable frenzy of interest in the young 'Prince William' look alike.
