We Have A New Song!
Earlier this summer we held a Winnipeg-based launch party for the full compilation. Over 20 musicians from the project took part, split into new groups, and challenged to write a song in the hours before the show began. One group liked their song so much they asked if they could come in to record it in an evening. Lo and behold, here it is.

Lets Talk Trophies
The Record Of The Week Club has been nominated for Outstanding Pop Recording at the Western Canadian Music Awards! I've also been nominated for Recording Engineer of the Year (little do they know I have no idea what I'm doing...heh heh...) Its an honour to be nominated alongside some outstanding artists. They've even asked us to concoct a new ROTW Club just for the Awards Ceremony in September. Pretty cool.
Now that we've got Western Canada convinced, lets keep spreading the word! The CBC has been playing us a lot, we're charting in Ottawa, Guelph, Calgary and more. But there's still a big big world out there. I'd like to welcome all of our new British, German and American listeners! Thanks for supporting this project and enjoying what we've made.
On The Horizon
There are a couple hair-brained schemes to do bigger and bolder ROTW Clubs starting to kick around in the back of my brain. We'll see what happens, but I think this concept is worth continuing to explore. I just spent the past week in Gimli doing some co-writing for the Songwriters Association Of Canada, and it was a great reminder of how much fun this is.
In the meantime, all three of my bands are busy. Les Jupes are almost finished recording our album with Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, Stars, Silver Starling). Ian La Rue's record is ready to roll later this winter. And The Liptonians are getting ready to hunker down in November and record a new album. Exciting times!
