Power 97’s River City Rocks is a local band search that was started back in 2003. Up until 2008 the main prize was inclusion on a CD compilation. Over the years the compact disc has become less valuable due to digital music retailers and the prevalence of mp3 players. Power 97 has since shifted the focus of the prizing to online interactivity and exposure to the public.
