Two friends, two debut albums.
A western tour two years in the making and a boutique bakery to boot.
Jon and Rheanna were never ones to take the road often traveled. They met two years ago and found that they shared a passion for taking on challenges and thriving under extreme pressure, later deciding they were the same person. Only one of them had a beard. Technically they are the same person..Jon's father married Rheanna's parents. Literally. There is photographic evidence.
Jon and Rheanna's friendship was cemented in their strange ability to dream together. As highly creative human beings who individually ran a comedy variety show at the Park Theatre, put on several fringe productions and played in many puppet plays, they thought they canceled each other out creatively. After several unsuccessful attempts to work together, Jon and Rheanna have now harassed their powers for good.
Both also enjoy breakfast more than anything. Period.
While Jon McPhail & his Family Band is a small family for this tour, Jon has put together a live show that highlights his toe tapping alt folk - am radio sound. Jon's tongue-in-cheek, off-the-cuff lyrical styling is joyfully spontaneous and will trap you in its infectious beat.
Feed The Birds indie pop songwriting leans on folk traditions and while kicking out a rock and roll swagger. Rheanna Melnick's lyrical fragility combined with rhythmic sense; creates a dynamic performance which transitions beautifully in all settings.
Together Feed The Birds and Jon McPhail & His Family Band's live performances find a common thread in
their Midwest farm machinery rhythms. Feed the Birds debut "Catcher" and Jon McPhail & His Family Band's forthcoming album "Hummmmm" will be officially released on November 27, 2010 at The Rudolph Rocker in Winnipeg, MB.
