Modern Romantics began as a collaborative effort between husband and wife duo Korbin and Paula Potosky shortly after their marriage in 2008. After the birth of their first child, with little in the way of time and space, the couple began an at-home recording project. The quickly amassed a handful of demos consisting of guitars, keys, vocals and software-generated drums and bass. As the songs grew in complexity, the need for a solid rhythm section became apparent. Their first choice was long-time friend and drum wizard: Andres Nieto. There was an immediate chemistry within the trio because of their history playing in Coleco: an indie -rock outfit from the early 2000's. The search then began for a bass player, and after only 2 auditions, the band struck gold. Jessica Rodewald came on board and was a perfect fit. Her fierce chops brought the sound of the band to a new level and it was clear that the Modern Romantics was complete.
