Local singer/songwriter Shawn Bergen released his debut CD, Thought Control. Along with Bergen, Thought Control features such Winnipeg musicians as Paul Yee, Mark Arnould, and Joel Kroeker (currently residing in Vancouver). Thought Control is an eclectic mix of mostly guitar-based original songs ranging from folk to rock to ambient pop. Bergen shows that he is capable of marrying intelligent lyrics in the style of Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Bob Dylan with richly textured, beautifully arranged progressive pop.
