LOCAL MUSIC SCENE COMES TOGETHER FOR DUGAS

October 15, 2007

The local music scene is coming together to help out one of its own this week. On October 18, several of Winnipeg's top acts will put on a concert in support of professional drummer Christian Dugas.

Dugas recently sustained injuries to his hand and leg which will put the sought-after session musician out-of-commission for two to three months and unable to earn a living.

The evening will feature a rare appearance by The New Meanies along with Burnthe8track, D.Rangers, Alana Levandoski, Mark Reeves, Justin Lacroix, and DJ Co-op. There will also be an appearance by Define Movement, a hip-hop dance troupe. The evening will be hosted by Crumbs.

Dugas -- who is often considered a drumming genius -- has provided percussion on albums for a number of Manitoba acts including The Wailin' Jennys, Madrigaia, Cara Luft, Dominique Reynolds, Paris To Kyiv, and Nathan Rogers. He was also a member of Juno-nominated band Scruj MacDuhk (which was reformed by front man Leonard Podolak as The Duhks, which Dugas' sister Sarah now sings for) and Rudimental.

The event will take place October 18 at the Pyramid Cabaret at 8pm. Tickers are $15 and are available in advance at Bar Italia.
