Manitoba Acts Featured on MSN.com

Manitoba music continues to make waves south of the border. MSN.com is currently featuring a special on the "Canadian music invasion," entitled "Whoa, Canada!"

The feature includes a gallery and accompanying info on 19 top acts. Alongside international big names like Sarah McLachlan, Arcade Fire, and Feist are Winnipeg-based bands The Wailin' Jennys, The Duhks, and The Weakerthans.

This isn't the first time a major American music outlet has taken notice of the local music scene. Billboard magazine featured an article on the Winnipeg scene last year, once again crediting the cold climate for breeding incredible music. Like the Billboard article, MSN.com reaches countless readers hungry for new music.

All three featured acts have been spending considerable time touring in the U.S. in recent years. Currently, The Weakerthans are on tour in support of their latest offering on U.S. punk label Epitaph, Reunion Tour. The Jennys are about to embark on a tour in the southern states, having already hit just about every inch of the U.S. The Duhks are on the way to Nashville where they're nominated for an Americana Music Award as Group of the Year (trohpies will be handed out on November 1).
