Saxophonist Finlay Keeping Busy This Winter
Janice Finlay is keeping busy this winter season. The local jazz saxophonist will be following up the release of last years critically-acclaimed album Shes Hip with some high profile performances in November.
On November 13, 14 and 15, Finlay will be featured in a Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra pops concert. On November 27, she will lead a quartet including Steve Kirby (bass), Ron Paley (piano) and Kelly Marques (percussion) - in concert at the Winnipeg Art Gallery for a program tied to the third annual Week of Good Sax.
To top it off, Selmer, a respected saxophone manufacturer, has named her a Selmer artist, which will increase Finlays status, offer her some funding and even some new instruments.
