Eight Acts Represent Manitoba at Canadian Music Week

Eight Manitoba acts have been invited to showcase at the 2004 Canadian Music Week in Toronto, March 3-6. Greg MacPherson, Imperial Public Library, JFK and the Conspirators, Novillero, the Afterbeat, Blush, the Perms and the VaGiants will all represent their home province in front of fans, industry and media during their CMW showcases.

Canadian Music Week is a four-day, annual event that encompasses a festival, conference, trade show and multiple awards shows, including the Canadian Independent Music Awards. Three Manitobans have been nominated for awards this year; James Ehnes is up for Favourite Classical Artist/Group for his work with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, The Weakerthans are in the running for Favourite Group, while country rockers Doc Walker compete against Aaron Prichett and Brad Johner in the Favourite Country Artist/Band category. The Indies happen March 3 in Toronto at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
