The Duhks Land Grammy Nod

The Duhks got their Christmas present early this year. The neo folk-rock quintet is up for a Grammy, one of the most prestigious music awards available. The 29th annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 11, 2007.

The Duhks are up for Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, sharing the category with superstars including The Dixie Chicks and Rascal Flatts. The category recognizes the best in established duos or groups with vocals, singles or tracks only. The Duhks track "Heaven's My Home" of their latest release Migrations gets the nod.

This isn't the first Grammy experience for the group, which picked up a back door Grammy in 2005 for a song it contributed to Beautiful Dreamer, a multi-artist compilation of Stephen Foster covers.

The Duhks won the 2006 JUNO Award for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year (Group) for its self-titled release, its debut on American roots label Sugar Hill Records, which also release Migrations.

Manitoba has a strong recent history with the Grammy Awards. Christian rapper Fresh I.E. has been nominated for Best Rock Gospel Album for two consecutive years, in 2004 and 2005 for Red Letterz and Truth Is Fallin' In Tha Streetz respectively. Reclusive soul man Remy Shand wowed the music community with four Grammy nominations for debut album The Way I Feel in 2002.

The Duhks will celebrate their nomination on the road, continuing their U.S. tour with dates the American and Canadian northwest.
