You’re driven, talented, and passionate about your music career. Now, get the skills you need to take your career to the next level.  

Today, Manitoba Music is excited to launch a new pilot program, Music Skills, that will become an essential part of success for anyone working in the music industry in Manitoba.

Music Skills will educate and train industry workers, entrepreneurs, and artists with the business skills and industry knowledge they need in order to fully reach their potential for success. Taught by today’s top professionals, this exciting program will deliver free, intensive, and direct training, tailored to meet each individuals own career goals.

Music Skills will initially launch three streams: a music management seminar, a video game composition seminar, and a flexible client-driven program for entrepreneurs and employees from across the industry.

MUSIC MANAGEMENT SEMINAR

Clients will receive formal training in the skills needed to become successful in the area of artist management. This will include training in:

•    Music Publishing
•    Music Law
•    Accounting & Bookkeeping
•    Office Management
•    Publicity
•    Marketing
•    …and more

Who should apply: Current employees with artist management companies; self-managed artists; aspiring artist managers.

VIDEO GAME COMPOSITION SEMINAR
This stream will provide hands-on training from industry leaders in this exciting and emerging sub-sector. Delivered in conjunction with New Media Manitoba, clients will learn essential skills such as:

•    Finding work in this field
•    Aesthetic and technical demands of composing for video games
•    Working with video game designers
•    Understanding game creation software
•    …and more

Who should apply: Composers with digital composition experience; songwriters and composers interested in working within this sub-sector.
 
MUSIC INDUSTRY PERSONNEL
Employees of established companies, entrepreneurial startups, and artistic entrepreneurs will have training programs tailored to their own unique situation. This program will train clients in key areas of business, including:

•    Accounting
•    Project Management
•    Communications
•    Marketing
•    Client Relations
•    …and more

Who should apply: workers with established music companies in Manitoba; entrepreneurs; artists who are self-managing their careers.

HOW TO APPLY
All applications must be received in hard copy format at the Manitoba Music office by 4pm, November 27. Email and faxed applications will not be accepted.
