The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Torch Relay is blazing its way across Manitoba. It hits Winnipeg on January 5, making its first appearance in Transcona around 4:30pm and continuing on through Elmwood, and St. Boniface. The Relay will then travel downtown to The Forks, where a welcoming party awaits.

From 5pm onwards, The Forks will host a variety of roving performers and displays. Mainstage festivities will take over at 5:45pm to showcase the range of world class talent from Manitoba. After an official welcome, award-winning country chanteuse Tracy Bone kicks off the evening performances. Juno-winning roots ensemble Chic Gamine plays next, adding their unique blend of genres and vocals, followed by hip-hop act Brakada. The night concludes with a performance from country music powerhouse Doc Walker. The performances will be broken up by speeches and video presentations as well as a performance by the Norman Chief Memorial Dancers. The Torch Bearer is expected to arrive close to 7pm.

This is only the beginning of the exposure Manitoba acts will receive during the 2010 Olympics. Inward Eye, Eagle & Hawk, Nathan, Romi Mayes, Wab Kinew, Gathering of Flies, Quinzy, JC Campbell, Grand Analog, and many more will be in Vancouver this February.
