Manitoba Music Live on Canada at The Forks

Posted on

Manitoba Music is firing up the Scotiabank Stage at The Forks once again this year for Canada Day with a diverse all local line-up of talent. Performing for an audience of thousands who gather at The Forks to celebrate our nation’s birthday, the main stage event – Manitoba Music Live, the all-day musical component of Canada Day at The Forks, which is presented by Rogers – features six Manitoba acts, culminating in unique collaboration between acclaimed hip hop act The Lytics and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

Up and coming country act Sol James kicks things off at 4pm, followed by sets by rock trio Sons of York, award-winning singer/songwriter Don Amero, eclectic jazz/folk/rock outfit Flying Fox and the Hunter Gatherers, and pop chanteuse Jodi King. Hosted by Breakfast Television’s Jenna Khan, the event also features the turntable talents of DJ Mama Cutsworth between sets. The entertainment will be capped off by The Lytics and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra joining forces in the lead-up to this year's captivating fireworks display.

Manitoba Music is also bringing the music to two other stages at The Forks this year, including the popular Under the Canopy and the newest stage at the historic Rail Bridge. Both will feature more exciting local talent in just about every genre, from rock to reggae to roots. Performers include JUNO Award-winning roots quartet Nathan, country rocker Jason Kirkness, indie pop/rockers Modern Romantics, award-winning Latin jazz act Trio Bembe, bilingual folk duo Fire & Smoke, and more.

Manitoba Music Live and the entire Canada Day at The Forks presented by Rogers is free for all to attend and is accompanied by family-friendly activities all day long including clowns, musicians, buskers, crafts, and more.
