Pocketgigs Hits the Small Screen

Music videos are coming to a TV near you. Shaw TV is launching its first official season of "community created" programming, including nearly 20 independent productions ranging from sports to entrepreneurs to music.

Popular online music video series Pocketgigs, which combines live performance and inspiring cinematography from around Winnipeg, will air during Shaw new's weekly magazine show every Wednesday at 4pm.

Filmed by director (and drummer) Chris Gaudry, Pocketgigs will kick off with videos featuring Del Barber on October 17, Imaginary Cities on October 24, and James Struthers on October 31, with more videos to come for its 13-show run.

"Pocketgigs started as a guerilla style music video series that was just an extension of the musician's live show, and was really only intended for web release," explains Gaudry. "The fact that it's moving to the small screen really just shows that first of all, these performers are world class, and secondly, people want to hear the musicians perform, and they want it to feel real."

Tune into Shaw TV Channel 9 to watch Pocketgigs. Sign up to Pocketgigs' Facebook page to get info on upcoming videos and new shoots.

You can also catch Chris Gaudry at the Point of Views: Viral Video workshop at Manitoba Music on October 17, along with Absurd Machine's James Rewucki.
