Wondering what to do this August? Well, there are over a dozen summer music festivals packed with acclaimed local talent. From Anola to Lac du Bonnet to Sandilands, follow some of Manitoba’s touring bands as they take their songs and stories to festivals across the province. FIRE AND WATER FESTIVAL | August 2-4 | Lac du Bonnet, MB
Fire & Water is heating things up for its seventh annual festival with 30 acts and five stages, Fire & Water offers both free and ticketed concerts and multi-genre programming. Catch Alanadale, The Bros. Landreth, The JD Edwards Band, Indicator Indicator, Mariachi Ghost, Matt Epp, Black-eyed Suzie, and many more. Bring the kids to the family entertainment area and artisan market.

ICELANDIC FESTIVAL OF MANITOBA | August 2-5 | Gimli, MB
It's not all Vikings and vinatarta at the 124th annual Islendingadagurinn Festival. The weekend boasts a diverse line-up, including Alternative Folk Festival at Gimli Park Main Stage with Les Jupes, The Duhks, JP Hoe, Nathan, and Iceland's Snorri Helgason Band. Also playing at the festival are Oldfolks Home, and a Pipe & Hat showcase featuring Mise En Scene, The Bokononists, Sc Mira, and The Revival.

ROCKIN THE FIELDS OF MINNEDOSA | August 2-4 | Minnedosa, MB
If you're ready for some R and R, and by that we mean rock and roll, head to Minnedosa to catch sets from The Trews, Trooper, Starship, Big Wreck, Theory of a Deadman, and more. The list of locals hitting the fields includes Dust Rhinos, When Planets Al!gn, Misty Street, and Until Red.

GREAT WOODS MUSIC FESTIVAL | August 8-10 | Beausejour, MB
Catch some great music at the great woods, out on the edge of Beausejour. Complete with festival camping, Great Woods has lined up 11 acts including Winnipeg’s The F-Holes at Dustin Harder & The Dusty Roads Band. 

TROUT FOREST MUSIC FESTIVAL | August 9-11 | Ear Falls, ON
Ear Falls is kinda like Manitoba. Well, Trout Forest is. Produced by Nathan’s Devin Latimer, the fest highlights a lot of Manitoba talent. This year's lineup includes friendly Manitobans like The Duhks, The Perpetrators, JP Hoe, Jess Reimer, Grant Davidson, Ingrid Gatin, and more, plus a host of touring acts like Fred Eaglesmith, Catherine MacLelland, and Geoff Berner. 

MEME FESTIVAL | August 15-18 | Winnipeg, MB
The annual electronic music festival returns to Winnipeg this year, taking over The Cube and the Winnipeg Art Gallery for multi-level fun and with international names like Noah Pred, Berlin's Sid LeRock, and My Favorite Robot, next to locals like Seed Organization, Joe Silva, and many (many more).

ABORIGINAL MUSIC WEEK | August 16-21 | Winnipeg, MB
AMW moves from November to its new summer home, offering up 11 events, including free concerts, featuring acclaimed Aboriginal artists from across Canada and beyond. The list of Manitoba acts performing this year includes Indian City, Leonard Sumner, C-Weed Band, The Mosquitoz, Kim Erickson, and Desiree Dorion.

RAINBOW TROUT MUSIC FESTIVAL | August 16-18 | near St. Malo, MB
Dedicated to promoting local talent and culture, the Rainbow Trout Music Festival promises music, art, fishing, camping, swimming, and a secret special guest extravaganza as well as an impressive list of local indie acts, including Mahogany Frog, Hana Lu Lu, The Lonely Vulcans, Yes We Mystic, Kieran West and His Buffalo Band, From Giants, Salinas, Federal Lights, The Keith Price Double Quartet, Rastamils, and Grant Davidson.

HARVEST SUN FESTIVAL | August 16-18 | Kelwood, MB
The Harvest Sun Festival invites music lovers and locavores to celebrate home grown food, films, and talent. Performers include The Young Pixels, Rob Waddell, Al Simmons, Quinton Blair, Katie Murphy, Carly Dow, Former KGB, Cara Luft, Shotgun Jimmie, Don Amero, Red Moon Road, The Treble, Burnt - Project 1, French Press, JP Hoe, Sierra Noble, and more.

WINNIPEG BBQ & BLUES FESTIVAL | Aug 16-18 | Winnipeg, MB
If you're city bound, there is never a shortage of live and local music to check out. The second annual Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival belts it out with the The Bros. Landreth, Sol James, blues jams, a women in blues review, and more. 

ANOLA LITTLE MUSIC FESTIVAL | August 23-24 | Anola, MB
A family friendly event, this fest has added a second evening of music, proudly supporting local musicians including Beth Hamilton, The Bros. Landreth, Oldfolks Home, Sol James, From Giants, Rob Waddell, Sheena Grobb, Leonard Sumner, Last Ditch on the Left, Red Moon Road, Flo, and The New Lightweights.

MORDEN CORN & APPLE FESTIVAL | August 23-25 | Morden, MB
Designated in 1925 as the Corn and Apple Belt, the people of Morden host their Corn and Apple festival every fourth weekend in August. This year, Renee Lamoureux, The Treble, The JD Edwards Band, Bryce Pallister, and Moses Mayes will be on hand to provide the soundtrack to your ferris wheel ride.

MATLOCK FESTIVAL OF MUSIC, ART & NATURE | August 23-25 | Matlock, MB
Matlock delivers its fourth year of festival programming with a diverse lineup including Alanadale, Deborah Romeyn, Jess ReimerKate FerrisKieran West & His Buffalo BandNaysaPoorboyQuinton BlairSebastian OwlThe Bros. LandrethThe Young PixelsWoodshed Havoc, and more.

SHINE ON FESTIVAL OF MUSIC & ART | August 23-25 | Sandilands, MB
What better way to celebrate the end of the season that with a diverse lineup of homegrown talent? Carly Dow, Choplogic, Dust Adam Dust, Kayla Luky, Kevin Roy, Kieran West and His Buffalo Band, Mahogany Frog, Until Red, and over a dozen more will hit the stage at Beavercreek Park. 

HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL | September 13-15 | Clearwater, MB
Although this one takes place in next month, it is definitely worth putting on your festival radar. This year the Harvest Moon Society serves up workshops on sustainable living, farmer's market, kid's fun, fair trade fair, and a big helping of local music, including Chic Gamine, Mama Cutsworth, Cannon Bros., Boats, Mariachi Ghost, Shotgun Jimmie, Flying Fox & the Hunter Gatherers, From Giants, with more artists still to be announced.
