Heather Longstaffe and Chris Burke-Gaffney

Meet songwriters Heather Longstaffe and Chris Burke-Gaffney, who will be joining us Wednesday, June 25 for our Nashville vs. L.A.: A Songwriter's Perspective workshop.

About Heather Longstaffe
Heather is a singer/songwriter for SONY/ATV Music Publishing, currently living in Los Angeles. In 2011 she won the Radiostar National Songwriting Competition and moved to Nashville where she collaborated with hit songwriters like Eric Pasley and Frank Myers. Heather has had TV placements, played legendary venues like the Bluebird Cafe, and shared stages with Emerson Drive and Lady Antebellum. She has an upcoming release with Madeline Merlo (Open Road), and has written singles for artists including Disney actress Kate Todd, and Jordan Mcintosh.

About Chris Burke-Gaffney
Chris is the CEO of CBG Artist Development, a company that has helped launch the music careers of notable Canadian stars as Chantal Kreviazuk, McMaster & James, Sierra Noble, Mackenzie Porter, and more. He started his career as singer/bassist for The Pumps (Polygram) and signed his first record deal as a teenager. He toured with superstar acts including Guns & Roses and AC/DC. While in his 20s, he wrote his first of six top 10 Canadian singles that remain staples on Canadian classic rock radio today.

During his “rock n’ roll” years, Chris learned all about the music industry from an invaluable insider perspective very few people have. He has applied that experience to not only guide new developing artists through the complicated music industry, but also has crafted a number of hit singles for artists around the world.

About the workshop
Throughout the years, countless artists and musicians have travelled to both L.A. and Nashville on songwriting trips hoping to be discovered. Many arrive ill-prepared, not knowing what to do or expect, or who to target when there. This workshop will focus on the importance of trip planning and preparation, networking, creation and presentation of the song, and the business of songwriting. Chris and Heather will diagram, and explain the craft and business of songwriting to help you and your songs stand out.
