Manitoba’s music community is getting ready rock the house for charity.

Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film & Music will join forces once again for the Manitoba Music Rocks Charity Bonspiel, which will take place at the Granite Curling Club on February 28, 2015.

The fifth annual event, which sells out quickly every year, will bring the province's vibrant music community together to raise funds and awareness for the Kevin Walters Memorial Fund -- a charity that honours Walters' memory through financial support for promising performers and organizations in music, film, performance and the creative arts. Walters, who passed away in June 2014, had very close ties with Manitoba Music, Manitoba Film & Music, as well as larger the music industry.

"Kevin was a cornerstone in our industry. He had such incredible talent for uniting people for a common goal. We're absolutely thrilled to bring our community together and pay tribute to him with the kind of fun event that he loved and help continue his legacy," says Manitoba Music's executive director, Sara Stasiuk.

"This is a great event which brings our entire music scene together for an afternoon of reverie and curling," says Manitoba Film & Music's manager of music programs, Stephen Carroll. "Kevin was our music program manager for over a decade and during his tenure he worked tirelessly to strengthen our music industry. MFM is pleased to have this chance to honour him."

Registration for the 2015 Manitoba Music Rocks Charity Bonspiel is now open and people of all skill levels are welcome to join in the fun and curl for a cause. Proceeds will be donated to the Kevin Walters Memorial Fund. In addition to curling, there will be some activities to keep people busy off the ice, and curlers will have a delicious finish to the event’s festivities with a celebratory dinner, with prizes for bonspiel winners as well as those who come dressed in their best, most outrageous, or vintage curling outfits, best team name, and more.
