Four Manitoba acts have rounded up five nominations at this year’s Independent Music Awards, aka The Indies. The awards will be handed out at the Grand Ballroom of Toronto's Sheraton Centre on May 9.

Fresh off her win at the 2015 JUNO Awards, Tanya Tagaq is a double nominee for Artist of the Year and Female Artist of the Year. Fellow JUNO winners The Bros Landreth are up for Folk/Roots Artist or Group of the Year, along with JUNO nominee, Del Barber. Comeback Kid landed a nod in the Punk/Hardcore Artist or Group of the Year category.

The Indies, which take place during Canadian Music Week (CMW), promote and honour the achievements of independent Canadian and international artists. They are voted on by both the public and industry to decide the winners. Fans can vote online for their favourites at indies.ca.

Local acts Ashley Robertson, Attica Riots, Finn, Mobina Galore, Naysa, The Lytics, and Until Red will also hit the showcase stage for the festival portion of CMW.
