FEEDBACK LOOP: Manitoba Music, MEMETIC, and John Norman Launch New Workshop for Electronic and Hip Hop Producers at 2015 MEME Fest

This year’s MEME Festival has a new addition to its lineup of workshops. Manitoba Music, MEMETIC, and John Norman have joined forces to present Feedback Loop, a workshop and listening session giving electronic and hip hop producers the opportunity to have their tracks critiqued by a panel of industry professionals in an afternoon session on August 14 at Manitoba Music.

Feedback Loop will offer participants a chance to have their tracks played and discussed from a production standpoint, and participants will receive constructive feedback from the panel offering their insight from a variety of perspectives. Participants will listen to new music alongside the experts, learn what they listen for when hearing new demos, and be part of the discussion about what makes a strong first impression and why. This is a chance for artists to meet and discuss their work with fellow producers, while getting personal feedback from a distinguished panel from both a craft and business point of view.

The panel includes Andrew Ryce, North American editor for Resident Advisor and contributor for Pitchfork; along with two internationally- acclaimed local artists — DJ and producer LAMBO (Mad Decent) and DJ, producer, label owner, and publisher John Norman (UNT Records, KMS Records, Thoughtless, Natura Viva). Part of Manitoba Music’s MusicWorks series, Anthony Augustine is set to moderate the panel.

Feedback Loop is the third educational component to the popular annual festival, exposing aspiring electronic music artists to mentoring and networking opportunities. MEME will once again offer its Audio Workshop -- a unique full-day learning experience for fans of electronic music who want to learn more about how it is created, and aspiring producers at all skill levels seeking to further their knowledge and expand their network. Hosted by Precursor Productions at Manitoba Music on August 15, training will be delivered by top local artists and an array of international producers who will be performing at the festival throughout the weekend. People can also catch MEME Interactive 2015, a new clinic that explores key aspects of interactive technology used by DJs and producers.
