Rainbow Trout Music Festival Celebrates New Local Music

We may not have much summer to speak of in Manitoba, but we know what to do with it. Summer music festivals are beautifully ubiquitous, with audiences growing up totally used to music discovery in the sunshine (...or rain). Numerous smaller festivals have popped up in recent years, populating just about every weekend with a different chance to catch some live music, and many of them have a hyper-local focus.

Now in its seventh year, the Rainbow Trout Music Festival (RTMF) has since established itself as a serious summer destination for music fans. Running August 14-16 just south of St. Malo, RTMF offers three days of music, camping, swimming, craft vendors, and more. Founded and organized by a group of volunteers, the indie fest sold out of its weekend passes for 2015 about two hours after they launched.

The festival has a well-deserved reputation for being proudly hyper local. This year's lineup boasts over 25 acts, all of which most are homegrown. And its a diverse group of Manitobans, at that, spanning from singer/songwriters to experimental electro rock to indie pop (and pretty much everything in between).

This year's lineup includes the likes of The Zorgs, French Press, ATLAAS, The Will To Power, Ghost Twin, Claire Morrison, Living Hour, Raine Hamilton, Human Music,The Catamounts, The Perpetrators, RayannahGuerrillas of SoulSlow Leaves, Micah Visser, and more.
