M FOR MANITOBA: Manitoba Music Heads to M for Montreal for Showcases

The busy season of market development activities continues this month as Manitoba Music heads to popular music discovery festival, M for Montreal, to present a pair of industry showcases.

Cafe Campus will host Attica Riots' sweaty dance rhythms for an afternoon set on November 19. Gearing up for the 2016 release of its debut album and profiled this month in the Manitoba Fresh spotlight, the rock outfit recently wowed audiences at BreakOut West and NXNE, and had an explosive set on Canada Day at The Forks with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. 

Indie darlings Cannon Bros. will bring their catchy melodies to Montreal haunt Casa Del Popolo on November 20 for an afternoon showcase. The pop/rock pair is fresh from the release of Dream City, its sophomore recording on Winnipeg-based label, Disintegration Records, which follows up its acclaimed Polaris Music Prize long listed album, Firecracker/Cloudglow

Manitoba Music has been keeping active this fall, including a project with another big M, the Manitoba X Minnesota Musix Exchange, as well as market development events in Berlin, Hamburg, London, Warsaw, Halifax, and Toronto. Later this month, Manitoba Music will also hit Japan with for a Canadian Blast trade mission with Mise en Scene and The Lytics.

Bringing Manitoba music to new markets and intensifying business activity in existing markets is a key component of Manitoba Music's trade and business development activities, which are funded by Western Economic Diversification Canada. Manitoba Music's market development initiatives are also funded by FACTOR through the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage (Canada Music Fund) and of Canada's Private Radio Broadcasters, Manitoba Film & Music, and Manitoba Trade & Investment.
