Canadian Country Music Awards Announce 2016 Nominees

The Canadian Country Music Association announced the nominees for one of Canada's hottest music tickets, the Canadian Country Music Awards, and there are some familiar names on the list. 

Winnipeg-based singer/songwriter David James has landed a coveted Rising Star nomination. A CCMA Discovery Artist nominee in 2014 James launched his latest recording, Songs About a Girl, on MDM Recordings in March. James' design team -- Sheila Hash, Brandon Heard, and photographer MacKenzie Jean -- have picked up a note for Recording Packaging of the Year. 

Paquin Entertainment Group has landed another nomination for Booking Agency of the Year. With 14 nominations in this category over the years, the agency -- which has offices in Winnipeg and Toronto - has won the honour six times. 

Dauphin's Countryfest is once again up for Country Festival, Fair, or Exhibition of the Year while its talent buyer, Rob Waloschuk of Performance Promotions Ltd., is nominated for Talent Buyer or Promoter of the Year. This is Waloschuk's fourth nomination and Countryfest's tenth consecutive nod.

The 2016 CCMA Awards Show will take place on September 11 in London, ON, and broadcast on CBC with an encore airing on CMT.
