Music from Manitoba is set to break new ground at Canadian Music Week (CMW) this month. One of Canada’s biggest music industry festivals, CMW takes over Toronto venues April 18-23. Fifteen homegrown acts are booked to play the festival, which offers the chance to perform for and connect with music fans, industry, and media from across Canada and the world.

The 35th CMW features hundreds showcasing bands at more than 30 live music venues in downtown Toronto. Manitoba’s lineup includes hip hop heroes 3PEAT, music legend Fred Penner, electronic duo Ghost Twin, indie rock band Hearing Trees, country singer/songwriters Kayla Luky and Kendra Kay, pop/soul outfit Lanikai, epic prog rock trio Moon Tan, indie folk act Okay Mann, alt pop quintet Paisley, indie pop band Sc Mira, singer/songwriters Shotgun Jimmie and Slow Leaves, alt-rock five-piece The Treble, and synthpop act Viva Non

Publicist and artist manager RoseAnna Schick of RAS Creative, who works with Attawapiskat-based rock outfit Midnight Shine will also be in Toronto offering one-on-one advice to artists in this year's Mentor’s Café

In addition to the thwack of showcases, CMW is also home to a number of awards shows celebrating Canadian talent in the artistic, live music, and broadcast communities.
