Local Music on the Lunch Menu in August with MB Live at The Cube

Manitoba artists will be serving up fresh tunes for lunch next month at Old Market Square. Manitoba Music and Exchange District BIZ are teaming up for MB Live at The Cube, a series of free concerts on Wednesdays over the noon hour that highlight local talent.

Running noon to 1 p.m. and offering four concerts that span the genres, the live performances kick off August 2 with emerging singer/songwriter Roman Clarke. Hip hop artist Alpha Toshineza hits the stage on August 9, high energy soul outfit Jérémie and the Delicious Hounds on August 16, and pop trio Amadians round out the lineup on August 23.

Known as the drummer for The Middle Coast, Clarke is building a name for himself with his new solo project. The young multi-instrumentalist songwriter -- who takes his influence from gospel, modern R&B, and the 70s – has recently released singles and made his TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival debut in June.

Francophone hip hop act Alpha Toshineza has been building buzz for his signature sounds, blending classic boom bap, jazz, rock, pop and soul. The versatile artist released his album Jazz Inuit in December and has landed on stages like the Centennial Concert Hall with the WSO and the massive Canada 150 at The Forks.

Jérémie and the Delicious Hounds have getting crowds out of their chairs and onto the dance floor with their brand of soul music that givies a modern French twist to classic funky soul sounds. Anchored by front man Jérémie Brémault’s smooth, smoky voice the quintet just released two EPs, one French and one in English.

Up-and-coming trio Amadians bring together the vocal power of singer/songwriter Courtney Devon with veteran guitarist/songwriter James Roth of Pushing Daisies and heartthrob quartet Panicland’s former drummer/percussionist Kyle Fox. The band has been winning fans over with its brand of indie rock influenced by blues, pop, rock, jazz, and hip hop.

Live local music at The Cube is the perfect recipe for a fantastic lunch this August. Music fans can find these and other live music events in Manitoba Music's free MB Live app.
