Mental Health Takes Centre Stage at With Love Event

Posted on

Mental health is taking centre stage at a new event this month. With Love, which will take over the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre on February 7, will combine music and art  in support of Inspire Community Outreach Inc., a local non-profit organization that provides free art, music and mindfulness programs to youth in Winnipeg living with mental health issues and neurological/cognitive differences.

Hosted by Ace Burpee, the event will feature live music from Yes We Mystic, Blond as Lions, Vothra, and DJ Co-op alongside live art via Synonym Art Consultation, interactive art installations, hula-hoop performers and dancers, and a custom-built stage with projections of art, a virtual reality booth, and a custom-painted photo booth.

“I wanted to create an opportunity for our community to celebrate creative expression, our diversity, and healing," says event organizer Talia Smith, a Creative Communications student at Red River College. "Too often, we can get caught up in the stress of our daily lives and forget about the little things that make life beautiful. Having fun is important. Loving ourselves is important. And mental health is important.”
