Manitoba Music is presenting a showcase of Manitoba artists in Los Angeles on May 29, 2012. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase in front of top names in the L.A.-based music and film industries in an intimate environment. Selected artists will perform a semi-acoustic showcase of approximately 25 minutes.
Los Angeles is home to some of North America’s most important music industry professionals and this showcase will target labels, publishers, music supervisors, program directors and more. The showcase in L.A. will take place in conjunction with a music industry networking event which participating artists or artist managers would be expected to attend, and which would be open to others from the Manitoba music industry.
The ACI Youth Mentorship Program in Music Management is putting together a promotional music sampler featuring young Manitoba musicians. This multi-genre CD will feature the best new music by young Manitoba artists and will help promote young artists to the music industry and media.
The compilation will not be for sale, but will be distributed to music industry professionals and journalists as well as music fans.
Applicants must be under 25 years of age, or for bands, must include a majority of members under the age of 25.
Manitoba Music is coordinating an afternoon/evening of live performances at the Scotiabank Stage at The Forks on Canada Day -- Sunday, July 1, 2012. One of Manitoba’s most popular summer destinations, The Forks attracts thousands of visitors to its Canada Day event. This year’s concerts will celebrate and promote Manitoba artists with a multi-genre concert featuring solo artists, bands, and DJs, on the marquee stage at The Forks. This event is free and open to the public.
New Music Wednesdays is an exciting new weekly concert series featuring local music in all genres, presented by the Osborne Village Inn in partnership with Manitoba Music. The series, which features three acts every Wednesday at Ozzy's, is a breeding ground for new bands in Manitoba's vibrant original music scene. It's a great new opportunity for Manitoba artists and bands to get on stage to make new fans, try out new tunes, and perfect their live show. Whether you play rock, hip hop, roots, jazz, pop, world, electronica, or anything beyond or in-between, you can submit to be a part of New Music Wednesdays.
The first Wednesday of every month is Manitoba Music Night at NMW and features exclusively Manitoba Music members, hosted by Breakfast Television's Jenna Khan and Indie Studio's Pamela Roz. Manitoba Music Night performers are able to access increased promotional opportunities.
WHO CAN APPLY
NMW is open to all genres and all Manitoba artists, including solo acts and bands. You don't have to have an album, tour, or showcase under your belt but you should be able to play a 30 to 45-minute set of solid music. This is a great event for emerging acts.
HOW TO APPLY
NMW features three bands per show. Manitoba Music is now booking Manitoba Music Night and we are currently looking for performers for the the first Wednesday of every month.
